I love hosting and teaching workshops and XL yoga sessions.
These session can give us so much more knowledge on how our body works and will allow us to go deeper and improve our practice on many different levels.

Yin yoga workshop

Bonaire - bonaire basics

The Power of Yin Yoga
An EXTENSIVE WORKSHOP to deepen your practice and your knowledge of this wonderful style of yoga. 

In four 4-hour sessions, we will go through the principles of Yin yoga and talk about the meridians, we practice, we will talk about the most common Yin yoga poses, talk about the alignment, benefits, contraindications, counterposes and modifications. Furthermore, go through the basic anatomy of the hips, pelvis, legs and shoulders. Talk about the breath. I will explain the difference between muscle tension and compression within the body and how you can feel the difference.

- Sat 2 Feb: 2pm - 6 pm
- Fri 8 Feb: 2pm - 6 pm
- Sat 9 Feb: 9am - 1 pm
- Sat 16 Feb: 9am - 1 pm

- 200 usd for 4 sessions
- 25 usd for the syllabus
Tea, water and some snacks are provided throughout the workshop days.

Location: Bonaire Basics

A down-payment of 50% is required and full amount needs to be paid before the start date (2 Feb). 
Payment can be done via bank transfer or cash.

Important to bring to the workshop:
- a pillow or sofa cushion
- a thin blanket or thick big towel
- your own yoga mat if you have one (we also provide mats if needed)
- a refillable bottle for water

Breathe Yin

A wonderful Yin Yoga session followed by a healing Breathing session.

The session:
We will start with a short explanation of the Yin practice and the Breathing session.
Then we have a Yin yoga session of around 60 min with Jane where we focus on the Lung meridians in preparations of the Breathing session. We stimulate this meridian via various Yin yoga poses.
Yin yoga is a more passive yoga practice, aiming to stretch the deeper laying connective tissues of the body and find full relaxation. The mostly seated and supine postures are generally hold for a few minutes. The focus is on stillness of the body and the mind.
We finish the Yin yoga session with Savasana (final relaxing position) and then we make the transition to the transformational breathing. Leslie Stoel will guide you through this healing process of connecting with your body, breath and heart.

More info about Yin:
- Stimulates the meridians (energy channels) bringing balance to the organs in the body.
- Improves flexibility and joint mobility.
- Calms and balances the mind and body.
- Reduces stress and anxiety.
- Works deeply on the connective tissues (fascia, tendons and ligaments).
- Can prepare the practitioner for meditation practice or a breathing session.

- You can feel fitter and physical complaints may reduce or disappear
- You can free yourself from physical stress and tension
- You are more present in your body.
- Old repressed emotions can be processed and cleared away
- You may have more focus on what you really want in life.
- A greater sense of self-worth and self-love.
- You may learn to discover and guard your own boundaries.
- You may experience more emotional balance.

What to wear: comfortable clothing, either yoga legging and sport-top or wider fitted clothing.
What to bring: a thick big towel or a small blanket and a small pillow or sofa cushion. A refillable bottle of water.

I am happy to announce I'm hosting a YIN-YANG XL YOGA SESSION again.

This session is all about HEART-OPENING.
Let's set the intention for the new year to listen to and follow our hearts in 2019!!! ❤️

This time I will do a wonderful collaboration with Conscious Monyet.
He makes lovely vegan food and will prepare a lunch for after the session.
Clean food for a pure and clean mind. 💚
You can of course choose to take the session with or without lunch.

Heart openers expand your chest and rib cage, making them more receptive and free. 
When you have a rounded back and your chest collapses, for example from spending long hours working at desks, bent over keyboards, it's very healthy to counteract this posture with heart openers.
Physically stretching the muscles in your chest, shoulders, and belly can create a deep emotional release, helping you to appreciate and honour yourself and your loved ones.

This XL session will bring you a feeling of lightness and contentment and will leave you feeling blissful.

Info on Yin-Yang yoga classes:
Yin yoga is all about surrender and letting your muscles relax. Yang yoga is more like a typical vinyasa flow class; keeping the body’s functionality and mobilizes the energy body to refresh the body’s vibrancy. When combined they compliment each other and balance out your energy. 
By practising Yin yoga before Yang we can carry over Yin's very mindful way of practising into our dynamic Yang practice. We truly benefit from the openness of the body and the stillness of the mind. It is also really beneficial for those of us who might tend towards competitiveness or striving in asanas.

There are mats and other props at Smiling Buddha. If you have your own mat please bring it. And please bring a big thick towel and maybe a smaller one for when you get your sweat on during the yang session.
